The Ultimate Home Theater Experience

Home Theater Enthusiast Package

ATI Multimedia Center™ (MMC) provides the ultimate video and audio playback experience. The New Home Theater Enthusiast Package is an enhanced collection of software catering to All-in-Wonder® owners.

Upgrading ATI’s award winning software suite to the New Home Theater Enthusiast package brings 5.1-channel surround sound support to the DVD Player (surround sound enabled sound card required) enhancing end-users enjoyment of movies and videos. In combination with EazyLook™, the Remote Wonder™ user interface that provides complete control over MMC Player features and functionality, users can create a high powered home theater PC for use in creating and enjoying multimedia content.

Dolby Digital® technology can transmit mono, stereo (two-channel), or up to 5.1-channel surround sound (discrete multichannel audio). DVD-Video discs of movies can even carry multiple versions of the soundtracks that differ in the number of channels. A disc might contain a 5.1-channel sound mix with the dialogue in one language, a Dolby Surround-encoded two-channel mix in another language, a mono track with the director’s comments, and other supplementary information.

The superior coding efficiency of Dolby Digital—and its ability to deliver high-quality, discrete multichannel audio without compromising video quality—has made it the designated audio standard for DVD-Video discs worldwide. Today, over 19,000 films have been released on DVDs using Dolby Digital technology.

Also, end users looking for the advanced functionality of DVD/VCD/SVCD creation with SONIC’s MyDVD for ATI and muvee AutoProducer instant music video creator receive the latest versions with the New Home Theater Enthusiast CD set. Create fun, exciting instant music videos using personal footage captured with MMC and your favorite MP3 files. Using SONIC’s MyDVD for ATI, creating DVDs or Video CDs is fast, fun and easy, allowing your creations to be archived on disk for sharing with family and friends.

  • What audio format does Multimedia Center DVD Player provide out of the box?

Dolby Digital is the sound of DVD-Video discs. If your PC has the basic Multimedia Center DVD Player it is the basic two-channel software DVD player you are enjoying a DVD playback experience made possible by Dolby Digital, but you are missing out on the surround sound experience contained on most DVD-Video discs.

  • Why is surround sound so important to the movie viewing experience?

DVDs can bring the magic of Hollywood’s car crushing audio effects to life from your PC and a surround sound speaker setup. Viewing DVDs with surround sound means you can be engulfed in audio that fills your senses. Hear bullets whiz by your head, feel every explosion, or thrill to the sounds of a pack of wolves on run.

Beyond supplying pure enjoyment, surround sound brings a sense of realism to movie viewing. After all, our survival depends on our senses, and audio cues help us identify and locate potential dangers. In real life, we detect and process sound from all directions.

When delivered over stereo speakers, the sense of immersion and realism of onscreen entertainment is diminished. Moviemakers, competing against television in the sixties, discovered that by adding surround sound to their films they created a more realistic and more fulfilling movie-going experience. Surround sound transformed the idea of movie going and became an incredibly important part of the experience. Now that same experience is possible in the home, thanks to the increasing popularity of home theater surround sound systems. Used for movie and music playback via DVD-Video disc, this same experience is also possible from a properly equipped and configured PC* and speaker setup.

  • Advanced PC Software DVD Player with Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound

At the option of their producers, DVDs can deliver Dolby Digital surround sound with five discrete full-range channels—left, center, right, left surround, and right surround—plus a sixth channel for those powerful low-frequency effects (LFE) that are felt more than heard in movie theaters. The LFE channel covers only about one-tenth the audible bandwidth of the other channels, and is referred to as the “.1” channel. Dolby Digital technology premiered in the cinema and today is the leading digital film sound format. Transform your PC* into a cinema with Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound, for the richest and most engaging DVD playback experience.
