    ATI at SIGGRAPH 2004
Visualize new worlds with ATI’s innovative PCI Express FireGL™ graphics accelerators at SIGGRAPH 2004

    Date: August 10-12, 2004
    Location:
    Los Angeles Convention Center
    Booth: 1101, South Hall

A new era in workstation graphics technology was showcased at SIGGRAPH 2004, where ATI (Booth #1101, South Hall) presented their FireGL Visualization Series of graphics accelerators as part of a full program of presentations, tech talks and real-time demonstrations. Presentations, giveaways, special guests and striking appearances by the heroine Ruby of ATI’s “Ruby: The Doublecross” ensured that ATI had a dramatic impact on the 31st international conference on computer graphics and interactive techniques.

    Embracing PCI Express with FireGL
The top-to-bottom FireGL V7100, FireGL V5100, FireGL V3200 and FireGL V3100 solutions were on full display for over 25,000 participants of this year's event in Los Angeles, showcasing the power of the first workstation solutions to feature a native implementation of PCI Express® graphics - the new industry standard. These powerful, professional workstation solutions take advantage of 16 lanes of high bandwidth serial connection to bring real-time, true cinematic quality rendering of complex geometry to animators, visual effects artists, mechanical designers and engineers. In its tradition of industry innovation, ATI also unleashed the power of the FireGL X3 256, the latest and most powerful graphics accelerator that supports the existing AGP standard.

    “Ruby: The Doublecross”
Digital artists, engineers, decision makers and game developers were immediately greeted by an oversized poster of Ruby, the heroine of ATI’s digital feature “Ruby: The Doublecross” upon entering the exhibition hall. Visitors were treated to the short feature “Ruby: The Doublecross” at the ATI booth, rendered in real-time with the power of ATI's FireGL Visualization Series graphics accelerators. A closer look at Ruby’s cinematic quality adventures was provided by her creators at RhinoFX, who gave presentations about the making of “Ruby: The Doublecross” at the ATI booth as well as in a well attended Tech Talk.

Big News From the ATI Stage
With a full slate of presentations that spanned the three-day Exhibition, ATI featured special appearances by members of Softimage, Discreet, Alias, Apple, Bunkspeed, and many more in front of enthusiastic crowds. ATI also hosted a Siggraph Sweepstakes, giving away a FireGL Workstation Graphics Accelerator each day, in a draw that gathered some of the largest crowds throughout the conference. Among the announcements revealed at the ATI stage included the unprecedented integration of ATI hardware shading technology (aka the Ashli code) into Discreet’s upcoming 3ds max 7, as well as the ability of ATI technology to provide the ultimate experience with Motion, Apple’s brand new package for real-time, motion graphics design.

Power Presentations at the ATI Booth
Siggraph guests who were eager to get up close and personal with leading packages for DCC, CAD and Visualization markets were not disappointed by a stellar line-up at the ATI booth. SGI, Rtzen, AI Implant, Alias, Softimage, Discreet, Side Effects Software, Silicon Color, OfficeFX were among the presenters who provided one-on-one demonstrations that leveraged the power ATI’s FireGL Visualization Series on workstations and laptops for real-time rendering and power visualization.

In addition to an oversized presence on the Exhibition Floor, ATI members, partners and guests took part in a number of other event highlights including:
