VAIO Slimtop™ LCD Computer

Ontario - ATI Technologies Inc. (TSE:ATY, NASDAQ:ATYT) announced
today that Sony Electronics has selected the ATI RAGE 128 PRO™
AGP 4X graphics chip, with flat panel support, for its new VAIO
Slimtop LCD Computer.
ATI graphics are used in the new Sony VAIO model to deliver
the impressive video and digitally imaging quality expected
of Sony, along with a host of the latest multimedia, graphics,
video editing, and Internet capabilities.
The ATI RAGE 128 PRO AGP 4X graphics accelerator is matched
in the new Sony VAIO Slimtop LCD Computer with the latest industry
components, including IntelŪ PentiumŪ III 600MHz processor,
DVD and 15 inch LCD monitor.

and imaging application possibilities built in to the new Sony

About the RAGE 128 PRO AGP 4X graphics accelerator
The RAGE 128 PRO implements the complete AGP 4X specification,
while maintaining full backward compatibility to the AGP 2X
interface. The RAGE 128 PRO is pin and software compatible with
the million of RAGE 128 parts already shipped, and saves money
and space by including an integrated TMDS transmitter, and Ratiometric
scaler for digital flat panel monitor support. The RAGE 128
PRO provides 32-bit true color quality, with no performance
degradation, and improves perspective quality and rendering
accuracy with the use of Anisotropic filtering.
With use of the industry's only integrated IDCT and Motion compensation,
DVD decode can be accomplished with an absolute minimum of CPU
usage, and support for HDTV and the simultaneous capture of
two video streams is included.
