February

Toronto,
Ontario - ATI Technologies Inc. (TSE:ATY, NASDAQ:ATYT) announced
today that NEC Corporation has selected the ATI RAGE Mobility™-M1
graphics chip for the new LaVie S consumer notebook PC.
ATI was recently named the world's leading shipper of mobile
graphics*, and the LaVie S is the latest in a series of ATI
design wins with the NEC product range of notebook PCs.
The RAGE Mobility-M1 is paired in the NEC LaVie S with an Intel®
Celeron® 466 MHz processor, and built-in DVD-ROM. RAGE Mobility-M1
will equip the new LaVie S with desktop equivalent graphics
for 3D web-browsing and 3D games, as well as the industry's
best DVD playback, most of the processing for which is performed
by the RAGE Mobility-M1chip.
"NEC again chose ATI mobile graphics to offer our customers
the best possible graphics solution for the LaVie S notebook,"
said Kiyoshi Kano, senior manager, personal computer product
engineering department, NEC Yonezawa Ltd. "By offering the powerful
graphics and multimedia capability of the ATI RAGE Mobility-M1
with the LaVie S notebook, NEC can continue to raise the bar
and deliver leading-edge mobile solutions to our worldwide customers."
"ATI, as the industry leader, offers the most complete range
of mobile graphics solutions available," said Vincent Win, vice
president of OEM sales, ATI Technologies Inc. "With an unparalleled
choice of components, and memory configurations, ATI has a mobile
graphics accelerator for every market price and performance
point notebook OEMs need to meet."
The ATI RAGE Mobility: true desktop features and performance
in a highly compact form factor
ATI RAGE Mobility graphics accelerators are designed to deliver
high-performance 3D, 2D and multimedia performance and features,
with the small footprint required for a mobile graphics subsystem.
RAGE Mobility accelerators feature a unique "single component
graphics sub-system solution" that replaces the need for over
six individual chips to provide memory and graphics functions.
The single sub-system design results in important motherboard
space savings, as well as the cost of the individual components.
