    Press Release - Archives 2000

ATI to support Intel's 64- bit architecture beginning with the Itanium™ processor

ATI to demonstrate software drivers optimized for the Intel® Itanium™ processor

    Feb. 14, 2000

Intel Developer Forum, Palm Springs, Calif. - ATI Technologies Inc. (TSE:ATY, NASDAQ:ATYT) announced today that it will be ready with a version of software drivers optimized for Intel's Itanium™ processor, the first in the IA-64 processor family. These drivers are to complement ATI's current product line, which targets the IA-32 processor family. Drivers for ATI's RAGE 128 PRO and RAGE 128 family of products will be ready during the second half of this year. ATI's Windows 2000 graphics software will be IA-64 compliant and ATI is also committed to support for IA-64 in several non-Windows operating systems.

"We are aggressively developing products to support the Itanium™ processor and the IA-64 architecture," said Henry Quan, vice president of corporate marketing, ATI Technologies Inc. "Intel's Itanium™ processor will broaden ATI's ability to penetrate new market segments such as the workstation and server market segments. ATI is poised to be the one-stop shop for Itanium™ processor-based graphics."

"ATI's expertise is in providing leading-edge products that support the latest Intel processor architectures," said Matt Gordon, Director of Industry Marketing, Intel Corporation. "ATI continues to work closely with Intel ensuring ATI products will support systems based on the Itanium processor."

With products optimized for the Itanium processor, ATI's position is strengthened in the workstation market segment as system and software application vendors continue to develop IA-64-based products. The RAGE 128 is certified for many of the leading popular software packages in the workstation market, and continues to gain certification for many new software applications.* ATI's RAGE 128-based workstation accelerators represent a remarkable price to performance solution, with stable drivers able to handle demanding 2D and 3D professional workstation applications for scientific and economic modeling, visualization, CAD/CAM and digital content creation.

    * Workstation applications currently certified or vendor endorsed for the ATI RAGE 128 family of products include: 3DSMax/Viz; AVS Express; Lightwave; Houdini; Lightscape; Solidworks; Merlin 3D; Truespace 4; Cinema 4D; SolidThinking. Certification is currently underway for the following programs: Pro/E; Maya; Unigraphics; Solid Edge; Solid Designer; Microstation J; Mirai.
