ATI's Mobility™ graphics chip selected for Acer's new Travelmate 730 series notebook PCs

ATI RAGE Mobility-M1™ packs powerful graphics and multimedia performance in new mobile Acer systems

    February 29, 2000

Toronto, Ontario - ATI Technologies Inc. (TSE:ATY, NASDAQ:ATYT) announced today that Acer has selected ATI's RAGE Mobility-M1™ for the new Travelmate 730 series of notebook PCs.

Acer's new Travelmate notebooks deliver all the performance features and benefits of the latest sophisticated graphics and multimedia applications with stunning clarity and quality for consumers and business users on the go.

The RAGE Mobility-M1™ is the world's first mobile graphics accelerator to offer 8MB of memory, the largest integrated memory solution available in the industry, and is paired in the new Acer systems with a range of IntelŪ mobile PentiumŪ III processors in 450 to 650MHz configurations.

ATI's family of mobile graphics accelerators are designed to provide excellent performance combined with minimum power consumption, and are an ideal match for the new IntelŪ mobile PentiumŪ III 650 and 600 MHz processors, which feature IntelŪ SpeedStep™ technology, intended to enhance notebook performance while maximizing battery life.

"Acer selected the RAGE Mobility-M1™ because it delivers a quantum leap forward visual experience for notebook PCs," said Dixon Cheng, president of PCIA Business Unit, Acer Inc. "Using ATI mobile graphics, Travelmate 730 series users will have the industry's leading mobile graphics and multimedia performance at their fingertips, bar none."

"ATI's RAGE Mobility™ family of products are the industry's leading 3D graphics accelerators," said Vincent Win, vice president of OEM sales, ATI Technologies Inc. "With use of the RAGE Mobility-M1™, the new Acer Travelmate 730 series has the full-size desktop power to deliver the latest software and Internet multimedia applications, to the mobile user."

The ATI RAGE Mobility™: true desktop features and performance in a highly compact form factor
ATI RAGE Mobility™ graphics accelerators are designed to deliver high-performance 3D, 2D and multimedia performance and features, with the small footprint required for a mobile graphics subsystem. RAGE Mobility™ accelerators feature a unique "single component graphics sub-system solution" that replaces the need for over six individual chips to provide memory and graphics functions. The single sub-system design results in important motherboard space savings, as well as the cost of the individual components.
