    ATI's Radeon® graphics board a specialty graphics solution for new Compaq Deskpro EX and Compaq Deskpro EXS desktop systems

    ATI's value Radeon® product, the Radeon 32MB graphics board, now available as a personalized option choice for new Compaq corporate PC systems

    Toronto, Canada - ATI Technologies Inc. (TSE:ATY, NASDAQ:ATYT) announced today that Compaq Computer Corporation (NYSE: CPQ) has selected Radeon® as a specialty graphics board, available by order, for the new Compaq Deskpro EX and Compaq Deskpro EXS commercial desktops which are designed for enterprise customers and small/ growing businesses.

    The Radeon 32MB board offers the best combination of price and performance of any product in its class. Radeon delivers high performance, extensive functionality, and industry-leading multimedia capabilities at a price point highly attractive to end customers demanding performance and value. Available through a unique Compaq marketing initiative which links the Compaq and ATI corporate websites, the Radeon 32MB can be ordered direct from ATI by Deskpro EX and Deskpro EXS customers, with the full benefit of ATI's technical support.

    ATI is delighted to be selected as the leading Graphics vendor to expand Compaq's Graphics Excellence Program into the mainstream 2D space. The program offers a 3-tier qualification structure that, prior to today, enabled 3D and multi-monitor 2D graphics vendors to have their products available on Compaq Workstations. With this announcement, ATI becomes the first mainstream graphics supplier in the Specialty category and the first member of the Graphics Excellence program to provide product for Compaq's new Deskpro EX commercial PC's targeted at enterprise customers and small/ growing businesses.

    The Radeon 32MB graphics board is ATI's value priced, entry level Radeon card for the retail, OEM and system integrator markets. The board uses ATI's latest Radeon graphics processing technology, combined with 32MB of SDRAM memory, to deliver a highly cost-effective combination of performance and feature set functionality.

    Ideal for high-performance desktop PC applications, the Radeon 32MB board includes the full, industry-leading feature set of ATI's Radeon family of products, including hardware transformation and clipping and lighting (T&L) geometry, Charisma Engine™, and on-chip hardware HDTV decoder which incorporates advanced video technology inherited from ATI's video oriented set-top box and consumer electronics products. The OEM-specification Radeon 32 MB board includes DVI and TV-out, enabling decode of all HDTV formats with reduced CPU utilization, and without any need for external hardware. The Radeon 32MB board comes equipped with ATI's RAGE THEATER™ analog encoder/decoder chip, and like other members of the Radeon product family, is the world's best platform for PC-based HDTV, providing a complete convergence solution.
