RAGE Mobility™ 128™ selected by Compaq for Presario 1800 Notebook Series
ATI continues consumer notebook dominance with RAGE Mobility 128 providing the fastest graphics and increased multimedia experience for the fast-growing consumer notebook segment
November 21, 2000
Toronto, Ontario, Canada - ATI Technologies Inc (TSE: ATY, NASDAQ:ATYT) today announced that Compaq Computer Corporation (NYSE: CPQ) has selected the RAGE Mobility™ 128™ mobile graphics and multimedia chip for the latest models in the Presario 1800 Series of notebook PCs.
The RAGE Mobility 128 is a compact, all-inclusive mobile accelerator, delivering industry-leading 2D, 3D and multimedia graphics for the mobile market.
"ATI's RAGE Mobility 128, in addition to providing the industry's fastest single-chip solution, offers a comprehensive feature set with many perceivable quality enhancements that are unavailable from any other graphics manufacturer," said Vincent Win, vice president, strategic sales, ATI Technologies Inc. "The RAGE Mobility 128 delivers these visual enhancements while its highly integrated design helps ensure low battery power consumption, an important factor when making business presentations on the road."
"This level of performance makes the RAGE Mobility 128 chip an ideal graphics solution for the Compaq Presario 1800 Series," said Lorena Kubera, Director of Consumer Mobile Product Marketing, Compaq Computer Corporation. "The DVD capability and dual screen functionality help make the Presario 1800 the fastest and most useful notebook on the market."
The RAGE Mobility 128 also brings powerful Dual-Display support. For the first time, users can run both a powerful gaming or 3D application while working on a demanding 2D application, or even watching a DVD movie or education DVD while at the same time writing a report about it on a second display. RAGE Mobility 128 can support up to large UXGA (1600 x 1200) resolution for larger and greater graphics detail.
The integrated MPEG-2/DVD decoder with iDCT and motion compensation enables full frame rate DVD playback with very low CPU utilization, thereby extending battery life. The RAGE Mobility 128 offers a high quality 10-bit DAC TV-out solution, with visual quality the equal of consumer electronic market DVD players.
RAGE Mobility is matched in the new Presario 1800 Series with the latest IntelŪ Pentium IIIŪ processors and 8X DVD drive.
