ATI's RAGE Mobility™-M1 graphics chip selected for Panasonic's new line of multimedia notebook PCs

    Thursday, December 7, 2000

MARKHAM, Ontario - ATI Technologies Inc. (TSE:ATY, NASDAQ: ATYT) today announced that Panasonic Computer Company has selected ATI's RAGE Mobility™-M1 graphics chip for the Panasonic CF-X1™ series of multimedia notebook PCs targeted at Japan's consumer market.

The Panasonic CF-X1 series is available in three models, each designed to provide performance-conscious notebook PC users with the latest mobile technology, robust functionality, and blazing graphics and multimedia performance. In the new Panasonic system, RAGE Mobility-M1 complements other leading-edge components including the latest IntelŪ PentiumŪ III or Celeron™ processors, 64 MB of RAM, a 20 GB hard disk drive and a choice of a CD-R/RW or DVD drive.

RAGE Mobility-M1 is the third ATI graphics chip selected by Panasonic to enhance a new line of PC products. Last December, Panasonic selected ATI's RAGE™ LT PRO, the world's first 3D AGP notebook graphics accelerator for its new "WiLL" branded, space-saving PC aimed at an upwardly mobile, 30-and-under target audience in Japan. In October, Panasonic chose ATI's RAGE Mobility-M for its ProNote corporate notebook PC, as well as the RAGE Mobility-M1 for its ultra-portable consumer CF-B5.

"Panasonic's selection of RAGE Mobility-M1 is further recognition that ATI offers unparalleled graphics and multimedia solutions to the notebook PC industry," said Vincent Win, vice president, strategic sales, ATI Technologies Inc. "With a string of wins in 2000 for the RAGE Mobility family, ATI has set a very high standard for notebook multimedia graphics performance."

The RAGE Mobility family: ATI the first to bring true desktop features and performance to the notebook platform
RAGE Mobility graphics accelerators are designed to provide mainstream notebook computers with the 3D, 2D and multimedia performance previously available only with high-end systems, while also delivering industry-leading power and performance functionality, in a space-saving, highly integrated design.

RAGE Mobility accelerators feature a unique "single component graphics sub-system solution" that replaces the need for over six individual chips to provide memory and graphics functions. The single sub-system design results in important component cost savings, and low power consumption, twinned with long battery life for notebook computer systems.
