Powerful video graphics and multimedia now available in revolutionary professional notebook

    Friday, October 19, 2001

MARKHAM, Ontario – ATI Technologies Inc. (TSE:ATY, NASDAQ:ATYT), the world’s number one notebook graphics vendor, announced today that its Mobility™ Radeon® graphics processor is now shipping in Apple's latest Titanium PowerBook G4 notebook line.

Ideal for mobile creative professionals, Apple’s new PowerBook G4 features the Mobility Radeon graphics processor with 16 MB DDR (double data rate) SDRAM (synchronous dynamic random access memory) and other leading-edge components, including a PowerPC G4 processor with Velocity Engine (a 128-bit vector processing unit) operating at up to 667 MHz (megahertz). The PowerBook G4 also features a DVD-ROM (digital versatile disc read-only memory) optical drive, up to five hours of battery life and a 15.2-inch TFT XGA (thin-film transistor extended graphics array) display housed in a one inch-thick, 5.3 pound titanium enclosure.

“ATI is proud to serve the Apple community and be included in the new PowerBook, one of the most distinguished notebooks in the world, and one that combines performance with stunning design,” said Reuven Soraya, Director of Marketing, Mobile Business Unit, ATI Technologies Inc. “ATI’s Mobility Radeon enables full frame-rate DVD video and accelerates 3D visual effects faster than ever before, which will benefit both creative professionals and avid gamers.”

"The new Titanium PowerBook G4 is the thinnest and lightest professional notebook available on the market today," said Greg Joswiak, Apple's senior director of Hardware Product Marketing. "ATI's powerful Mobility Radeon graphics processor, combined with the incredible improvements to the PowerBook G4 performance architecture, has made the fastest portable in the world even faster."

The Mobility Radeon graphics processor brings advanced features and performance previously enjoyed by desktop users to the notebook space, including superior video editing capability, smooth DVD (digital versatile disc) playback, integrated TV-out, multi-monitor support, and the ability to run the latest high-power 3D video games.
