ATI’s Radeon® 8500 wins Kick Ass Award from Maximum PC Magazine
World’s fastest graphics board scores a perfect "10"

MARKHAM, Ontario –
ATI Technologies Inc. (TSE:ATY, NASDAQ: ATYT), a world leader in the supply of graphics, video and multimedia solutions, announced today that its award-winning Radeon® 8500, the world’s fastest and most technologically advanced graphics board (1), has received even more industry recognition -- a highly-coveted Kick Ass Award from Maximum PC Magazine.
The award was announced in the November 2001 issue of Maximum PC and the Radeon 8500 was also featured on the cover of that issue, which bore the headline “Must-Have Hardware.” To qualify as a Kick Ass product, Will Smith, Technical Editor of Maximum PC, ran the Radeon 8500 through a variety of tests and benchmarks to ensure its performance was stellar -- even up against the most challenging games and applications. It received a perfect score of 10 out of 10.
Features that qualified it as a Kick Ass product included ATI’s TruForm™ technology, which enhances the visual quality of models; the fast 275MHz (megahertz) core and memory speeds; the flexible display support, including ATI’s Hydravision™ software, which helps users manage multiple displays to increase productivity; and the programmable pixel shader effects (ATI’s SmartShader™ technology).
