ATI's Radeon® 9700 PRO brings world leading graphics to Fujitsu

ATI's GPU unleashes new levels of performance in FMV-W high-end desktops

    Wednesday, October 9, 2002

MARKHAM, Ontario - ATI Technologies Inc. (TSX:ATY, NASDAQ:ATYT) today announced that the world's first visual processing unit (GPU), its feature-rich Radeon® 9700 PRO, has been chosen by Fujitsu to power the new flagship FMV-W series. Powered by the Radeon 9700 PRO, the Fujitsu FMV-W high-end desktop series will provide users with the fastest graphics performance in the world.

Since its launch this summer, ATI's Radeon 9700 PRO has been acclaimed as a truly revolutionary graphics chip that delivers high-speed performance and cinematic-quality images unlike anything ever seen on the PC. The Radeon 9700 PRO delivers unparalleled power and performance by incorporating eight parallel rendering pipelines, Microsoft® DirectX® 9 support, AGP 8X support and a fully programmable floating point architecture.

"ATI's Radeon 9700 PRO offers the most power, and undeniably the best graphics for our new line of corporate PCs," said Koji Kinoshita, Director of Fujitsu Limited. "We are proud to offer our customers the best in PCs and PC graphics, and look forward to great acceptance of this new product. The Radeon 9700 PRO will be a key component of that success."

ATI's Radeon 9700 PRO incorporates revolutionary architecture focusing on performance, precision and programmability. The feature-rich GPU includes SmartShader™ 2.0, SmoothVision™ 2.0, HyperZ™ III, and VideoShader™, and is the industry's first architecture to use programmable pixel shaders to accelerate video streaming.

"Fujitsu's choice of the Radeon 9700 PRO for its new FMV-W series is further testament to the tremendous and ongoing acceptance within the industry of the world's first GPU," said Rick Bergman, Senior Vice President, Marketing and General Manager, Desktop, ATI Technologies Inc. "Users who demand the best in visual quality expect to find it in ATI products - and they have been blown away by Radeon 9700 PRO. Once exposed to its blistering power, there will simply be no other option but the Radeon 9700 PRO."

Fujitsu's FMV-W series, featuring the Intel® Pentium® 4 processor and the revolutionary Radeon 9700 PRO, will start shipping October 21, 2002. Fujitsu will also be offering select models within the FMV-W series that include ATI's Radeon® 7000 graphics board.
