    Press Release - 2003

    ATI’s TV WONDER™ PRO Arrives Just In Time For Fall TV Viewing

    New intelligent TV-on-the-PC offerings deliver amazing stereo audio and incredible video quality

    Monday August 25, 2003

    MARKHAM, Ontario – ATI Technologies Inc. (TSX:ATY, NASDAQ:ATYT) is now shipping the new TV WONDER™ PRO, for (US) $69, and the new TV WONDER™ PRO REMOTE CONTROL EDITION, for (US) $99. Both new additions to the TV WONDER family are now available in North America and provide owners with a digital VCR and electronic program guide (EPG) plus improved video capture quality. TV WONDER PRO REMOTE CONTROL EDITION includes the critically acclaimed radio-frequency Remote Wonder™ to allow easy access to computer application control.

    These new add-on cards plug easily into any PCI (peripheral component interconnect) slot, available on almost all PCs. Owners can experience ATI’s industry recognized video encoder and VideoSoap™ that enable improved video quality. VideoSoap allows users to “clean up” any captured video stream – from camcorder, old VHS tapes or poor TV signals – using a series of customizable filters for the best video quality results. When combined with an All-in-Wonder™ video card, TV WONDER PRO owners can experience MulTView™ that enables Picture-in-Picture based on ability to support dual tuners in a single PC.

    “ Customers are demanding clear live TV experiences with no compression artifacts and our new TV WONDER PRO products meet that requirement,” said Blair Birmingham, Group Product Manager, Multimedia Products, ATI Technologies Inc. “The TV WONDER family is designed to entertain and inform owners by offering a Digital VCR with a no-fee EPG, plus quality signal reception, and low computer system demands that all combine to provide a great TV-on-the-PC experience. With the additional VideoSoap feature, owners can ‘clean up’ family videotapes before archiving them to a digital media for safe keeping and future viewing.”

    The new TV WONDER PRO solutions also deliver real-time MPEG-2 compression at full 720x480 resolution when using the Digital VCR that’s included as an essential part of the software package.

    TV WONDER PRO REMOTE includes the following:
    • ATI’s Multimedia Center 8.2 offers a full range of critically acclaimed multimedia functions including VideoSoap, a filtering process that removes noise and improves video quality during digital video recording captures;
    • MulTView support – When an All-in-Wonder video card is combined with TV WONDER PRO, owners can enjoy dual TV tuner capabilities such as Picture-in-Picture;
    • 125-channel stereo TV-tuner;
    • Stereo audio reception;
    • Digital VCR allows recording of scheduled TV programs to computer hard drive for viewing at any time. Preset, easy-to-use recording formats include DVD compliant video allowing users to archive TV recordings on DVDs using disk creation software included with DVD recordable drives;

Schedule and record programs at the click of a mouse – all the benefits of a Digital VCR without the monthly fees;
    • Security/monitoring camera functionality (using attached separate camera);
    • ATI’s REMOTE WONDER, only included with the “Remote Control Edition” versions of the TV WONDER family (as well as being sold separately), is a radio frequency wireless remote that extends computer multimedia control with the flexibility of a hand held, 30-foot user interface; and,
