Volume Visualization on the Radeon®

The RadeonVolVis uses EXT_texture3D to demonstrate volume visualization in OpenGL®. For more on Volume Visualization and other uses of 3D textures, see our 3D Texture Mapping Tutorial. This sample shows a volume being drawn as textured shells. It displays with both a monochrome and a pseudo-color version of the volume. Additionally, the user has control over a clip plane to interactively slice the volume

Figure 2 - Monochrome volume

RadeonVolVis Controls
  • T - Toggle between pseudo-color and monochrome
  • + - Increase number of shells
  • - - Decrease number of shells
  • [SPACE] - Switch control modes
  • [UP] - Increase the intensity of the image
  • [DOWN] - Decrease the intensity of the image
  • [LEFT] - Decrease the minimum density value
  • [RIGHT] - Increase the minimum density value
  • [ESC] - Quit
