    ATI INTRODUCES THE All-in-Wonder128

    • Rage128 powered version of award winning All-in-Wonder board is first to provide MPEG-2 encoding/decoding for high quality video recording capabilities

ATI today announced the All-in-Wonder 128 graphics and multimedia board. Powered by the Rage 128 chip and with 16MB memory, the All-in-Wonder 128 offers an excellent 2D and 3D graphics accelerator, and advanced MPEG-2 encoding, allowing video to be compressed and recorded directly onto hard disk or DVD storage media. Other functions include TV tuning with Digital VCR capabilities, video compression technology and video capture features. It is the only graphics and multimedia board on the market designed not only for the highest performance gaming on the PC's monitor and/or television, but also to support the latest PC/TV Convergence and multimedia creation applications for PC's in the home, as well as those in education and small office-home office environments. The All-in-Wonder 128 will be avilable in late June, priced £159 inc VAT.

"An All-in-Wonder 128 is not only a superb graphics card for games and other 3D applications, but offers real time MPEG-2 encoding at a fraction of the price of existing systems," said Simon Greer, UK Country Manager, ATI. "For the OEM and the retail customer, an All-in-Wonder 128 is the only solution that will provide the best of the most popular multimedia features, in a single board, and at a mainstream price."

New RAGE 128 GL Chip provides the world's best graphics acceleration
An All-in-Wonder 128 produces the highest graphics performance standards as the result of the RAGE 128 GL chip. With its 128-bit memory interface and dual pipe-line architecture, RAGE 128 gives amazing graphics acceleration at an affordable price.

New and improved ATI DVD Player Version 1.2 provides stunning picture quality
Through built-in DVD hardware and ATI's industry-leading ATI DVD Player software, All-in-Wonder 128 offers the highest quality and most complete DVD decoding technology available today. It sets a new standard in MPEG-2 DVD playback with full-frame, full-screen DVD video for a true multimedia experience on your PC or attached television in the home via the All-in-Wonder 128's video output.

The associated ATI DVD Player (1.2) uses iDCT (inverse Discrete Cosine Transform) and Motion Compensation hardware within the RAGE 128 chip to achieve highest quality DVD playback using a minimum of available CPU power. It enables any Pentium 200MMX class CPU or greater. It has received certification from Dolby Laboratories and through ATI's RAGE Theater or ImpacTV2 TV-out chips, supports Macrovision 7 copy protection for legal display of protected DVD content. Both are required for full implementation of DVD systems that connect to TV sets. The ATI DVD Player is Microsoft certified for Windows 95 and Windows 98. In addition, support for 6 region codes and 19 languages is provided.

New application software from ATI provides Multimedia, Video and TV tuning features
All-in-Wonder 128 delivers enhanced TV on PC with such features as closed captioning capture, video capture, instant replay and even Digital VCR included. The All-in-Wonder 128 is DTV Ready, once a DTV tuner card is added to the system.

It also includes ATI's Digital VCR functionality, where a PC can be programmed to record favorite TV shows just like a conventional VCR. Digital VCR leverages the ability of modern CPUs to compress video on-the-fly, as it's viewed, rendering dedicated hardware for video compression and decompression obsolete. Also, digitized video from camcorders or VHS tape can be affordably saved to today's recordable CDs and recordable DVD-RAM.

Instant replay --First of its kind functionality puts the viewer in control
The All-In-Wonder 128's video capture technology is also at the heart of the instant replay function. At any time while viewing a program, the previous two second to 2 minutes (depending on system memory size) can be replayed instantly, giving the viewer a capability once the exclusive domain of the program producer. Instant replay lets the viewer shift back in time during their TV shows.

TV Magazine - Transcripts with images saved to file for later reading
All-in-Wonder 128's "smart" TV tuner not only allows users to watch TV through their PCs, its advanced technology also allows for such applications as still and motion video capture and capturing closed caption transcripts. These functions have been combined to produce the TV Magazine feature, where closed captioning transcripts, along with periodic images from the screen can be saved to file to produce a printed, magazine-format version of the television broadcast.
