    ATI OPENS GATEWAY TO GRAPHICS!

    • ATI'S RAGE 128 SELECTED FOR NEW GATEWAY 'ESSENTIAL PC' AIMED AT THE CONSUMER DESKTOP PC MARKET

    ATI announced today that Gateway has selected ATI's RAGE 128 high performance graphics chip, incorporated on a motherboard manufactured by Intel, for the new Gateway Essential 466 consumer desktop PCs.

    The new Gateway Essential PCs use the leading-edge ATI RAGE 128 VR chip, in conjunction with the latest Intel 466MHz Celeron processor, to deliver the performance features and benefits promised by the latest sophisticated graphics and multimedia applications.

    ATI's RAGE 128 graphics chips benefit from ATI's advanced 3D architecture, producing industry-leading 3D graphics performance and a fully integrated 128-bit graphics and multimedia accelerator that supports up to 16MB of graphics memory.

    In reviewing the feature set of the RAGE 128, the authoritative Microprocessor Report commented: "With overall performance to match the best 3D chips on the market today and unmatched support for digital video, the RAGE 128 earns our Editor's Choice award for the best combination of features and performance among mainstream graphics accelerators."

    RAGE 128 VR id designed for stunning 2D & 3D performance on mainstream PCs and is the first chip to support new DDR SGRAM and popular SDRAM memories. It also offers optional support for TV-out and Video Capture, enabling "Broadcast PC" systems.

    The RAGE 128 VR's integrated motion compensation and iDCT technology produces full screen, full motion high quality playback DVD/MPEG2 video. Without the need for expensive hardware, ATI's DVD solution delivers superior performance for the home and business user.
