ATI & Act of War: Direct Action™!

ATI & Act of War: Direct Action™

Join elite U.S. troops and hunt down terrorists at war with the world in Atari’s Act of War: Direct Action™. Battle an international conspiracy in major world cities using authentic experimental military technology in this real-time strategy game best played on ATI Radeon® graphics. Act of War: Direct Action combines the gritty realism of today’s urban battlefields with challenging scenarios drawn from the horrifying headlines of tomorrow!

A global conspiracy, a world in crisis
Dateline: Tomorrow. The machinery of the world is grinding to a halt. Global oil production is crippled by a wave of highly organized terrorist attacks, and political and social chaos threatens the very fabric of modern civilization. Energy shortages and skyrocketing fuel prices trigger massive riots, strikes, and protests. Terrorist attacks intensify in many major cities, and events quickly escalate into a world crisis. As a grim situation becomes desperate, intelligence efforts reveal a shadowy organization behind the attacks.

Known only as the Consortium, it is a far-flung conspiracy with vast resources, intent on destabilizing and overthrowing the governments of the world. Conventional military forces and war-fighting doctrines count for little against this new kind of foe. The situation calls for an unorthodox military approach, and a new kind of anti-terrorist direct-action military unit: Task Force Talon.

Techno-thriller military technology, futuristic weapons
As U.S. Army Major Jason Richter commanding Task Force Talon, you’ll confront this new kind of enemy, an unpredictable opponent that strikes with rapier-like quickness, yet is elusive as the fabled will-o’-the-whisp. Task Force TALON is tasked to engage this “enemy from within” at urban battlefields all around

the globe, armed with the latest military technology and futuristic weapons revealed only within the pages of today’s techno-thrillers. Developed by Eugen Systems, Act of War: Direct Action was created in association with best-selling techno-thriller author Dale Brown, whose expertise on the U.S. military, global conflict, and future military technology gives real-time credibility to this real-time strategy game. Brown’s influence is evident throughout, with photo-realistic depictions of Apache helicopters, Abrams and Paladin tanks, remotely piloted vehicles and drones, and more. There is even a special unit of Marines equipped with “powered armor” combat suits, a concept that has intrigued the military since it was first introduced in Robert Heinlein’s 1959 groundbreaking sci-fi novel Starship Troopers.

Real-time strategy, real-life combat
Act of War: Direct Action requires good graphics, and your ATI Radeon’s performance will deliver the finest visual details, right down to the flaming debris catapulted in all directions with each explosion. Gameplay in Act of War also requires keeping your wits about you during a battle. “Rushing in dumb” with an unplanned mass assault is not rewarded. Just like in real combat, you must first tactically secure a strong position and use the terrain and cover to your advantage. Players can zoom in and engage the enemy from bird-eye view to street-level perspective, moving from several urban battlefield locations including Washington DC, San Francisco, Moscow, and London. The game features a single-player story mode, several multiplayer modes including eight-player online skirmishes, and a chance to play as the terrorists. From silent reconnaissance missions, to close-quarters hostage rescue, to all-out pitched battles in the streets, Act of War: Direct Action delivers a top-quality, all-too-believable real-time strategy gaming experience.

Act of War: Direct Action features:
  • ULTRA-REALISTIC MODERN MILITARY WARFARE — Command today's armies in tomorrow's war, a conflict of catastrophic proportions.
