The ATI Catalyst™ Control Center (CCC) is a Microsoft
Windows application designed to provide a user interface to control the functionality
of ATI graphics systems. This assessment was performed on Windows XP using
the default system skin.
| Section 1194.21 Software Applications
and Operating Systems |
| Criteria |
Supporting Features |
Remarks and explanations |
| (a) When software is designed to run on a system that has a keyboard,
product functions shall be executable from a keyboard where the
function itself or the result of performing a function can be discerned
textually. |
Supported with exceptions: Keyboard access is provided throughout
the CCC. |
1. Page tabs in the Catalyst Control Center cannot be accessed
without using the mouse.
2. Elements in the Simplified View list cannot be selected without
using the mouse. |
| (b) Applications shall not disrupt or disable activated features
of other products that are identified as accessibility features,
where those features are developed and documented according to
industry standards. Applications also shall not disrupt or disable
activated features of any operating system that are identified
as accessibility features where the application programming interface
for those accessibility features has been documented by the manufacturer
of the operating system and is available to the product developer. |
Fully Supported: CCC does not disrupt or disable
any accessibility features of the operating system. CCC fully supports
operating system accessibility features including StickyKeys, FilterKeys,
MouseKeys, High Contrast and more. |
|
| (c) A well-defined on-screen indication of the current focus
shall be provided that moves among interactive interface elements
as the input focus changes. The focus shall be programmatically
exposed so that Assistive Technology can track focus and focus
changes. |
Fully Supported: Visual on-screen focus and
tracking is provided throughout the CCC. |
|
| (d) Sufficient information about a user interface element including
the identity, operation and state of the element shall be available
to Assistive Technology. When an image represents a program element,
the information conveyed by the image must also be available in
text. |
Fully Supported: Text is associated
with each element and all images have an associated text description
in the CCC. |
|
| (e) When bitmap images are used to identify controls, status
indicators, or other programmatic elements, the meaning assigned
to those images shall be consistent throughout an application's
performance. |
Fully Supported: Standard and consistent images
are utilized throughout the CCC. |
|
| (f) Textual information shall be provided through operating system
functions for displaying text. The minimum information that shall
be made available is text content, text input caret location, and
text attributes. |
Supported with exceptions: Operating system
settings for text content, caret location, and text attributes
are used by the CCC. |
1. Text attributes such as font and font size cannot be set on
the table of contents of the help dialog. Users must use an application
such as Windows Magnifier to see a larger view of this element.
2. Text attributes such as font and font size cannot be set on
the top level pane buttons in the CCC.
3. Text attributes such as font and font size cannot be set in
the main Graphics Settings list. |
| (g) Applications shall not override user selected contrast and
color selections and other individual display attributes. |
Supported with exceptions: CCC supports system-wide
color settings as identified in the operating system display properties. |
If the user chooses to use a skin other than the default system
skin, the selected skin, especially those available from third
party sources, may not respect the user's selection of contrast
and color settings. |
| (h) When animation is displayed, the information shall be displayable
in at least one non-animated presentation mode at the option of
the user. |
Fully Supported: The users can turn animation
off in the preview panels to get feedback on a static view of the
scene. |
|
| (i) Color coding shall not be used as the only means of conveying
information, indicating an action, prompting a response, or distinguishing
a visual element. |
Fully Supported: CCC does not use color-coding
to convey any information. |
|
| (j) When a product permits a user to adjust color and contrast
settings, a variety of color selections capable of producing a
range of contrast levels shall be provided. |
Fully Supported: CCC allows the user to select
any and all of the contrast and color settings that the graphics
hardware supports. |
|
| (k) Software shall not use flashing or blinking text, objects,
or other elements having a flash or blink frequency greater than
2 Hz and lower than 55 Hz. |
Fully Supported: CCC does not use flashing or
blinking objects or text that falls within this frequency range. |
|
| (l) When electronic forms are used, the form shall allow people
using Assistive Technology to access the information, field elements,
and functionality required for completion and submission of the
form, including all directions and cues. |
Fully Supported: CCC electronic forms (dialog
panes) support all Microsoft Windows XP accessibility features. |
