Q5: Is video capture on Radeon™ 64MB DDR (VIVO), All-in-Wonder® Radeon™, RAGE FURY PRO™, All-in-Wonder 128™, TV WONDER VE™ and ATI-TV WONDER™ products supported in Windows® XP?
A5: Yes. This functionality will be available in a Multimedia Center release. The capture formats that are available in Windows® XP will not include all the formats available in Windows® 98. It is recommended that previously captured video files be converted to an industry standard codec (YUV format AVI or MPEG recommended) before upgrading to Windows® XP to ensure that they can be used under Windows® XP.

Q6: Can I play video clips captured in VCR1 and VCR2 formats in Windows® XP?
A6: No. You must convert previously captured video files to an industry standard codec (YUV format AVI or MPEG recommended) before upgrading to Windows® XP to ensure that they can be used under Windows® XP.

Q7: Will ATI offer ATI Multimedia Center and DVD Player software for Windows® XP?
A7: ATI Multimedia Center and ATI DVD Player software for Windows XP is currently under development for Radeon, RAGE 128 PRO, and RAGE 128 products. An updated version of Multimedia Center is also in development for the TV WONDER USB Edition. This software will be made available in the near future. Please watch this FAQ for updated release information as it becomes available.

Q8: Can I use my existing ATI DVD player under Windows® XP?
A8: No. Earlier versions of the ATI DVD PLAYER will NOT work under Windows® XP. An updated version supporting Windows® XP will be available soon. Please see question 7 for details.

Q9: Will I be able to use TV, Capture, File Player, or Audio/Video CD player from my current ATI Multimedia Center version with Windows® XP?
A9: For Radeon, RAGE 128 PRO, RAGE 128, TV WONDER or TV WONDER VE the existing ATI Multimedia Center 7.1 can be used under Windows XP. This software is available for download from our support website

Q10: Are ATI’s modular control panels included on the Windows® XP release CD?
A10: No. ATI’s modular control panels are not included on the release CD of Windows® XP. This is restriction that Microsoft® has placed on all graphics vendors. ATI control panels, enabling such features as Direct3D® and OpenGL® performance customization, monitor control, brightness and color controls, and advanced options will be available in a separate driver release from ATI.

Q11: Will the software bundles I received with my purchase work when I upgrade to Windows® XP?
A11: The software bundles that accompanied the ATI product you purchased were selected based on the operating systems that were shipping at that time. We recommend that you contact the software manufacturer to determine if it will function properly under Windows® XP.

Q12: Will ATI enhanced Windows® XP drivers be available for discontinued products?
A12: No. ATI enhanced Windows® XP drivers will not be available for legacy or discontinued products. This includes 3D PRO TURBO PC2TV™, 3D XPRESSION+ PC2TV™, 3D XPRESSION+™, original All-in-Wonder®, ATI-TV™ (ISA, PCI, FM), Video Basic™, Video-It!™ and ATI Modems.

ATI does have a trade up program for specific discontinued products. Please check driver availability for the product you are interested in before upgrading.

Q13: Where can I get Windows® XP drivers for the ATI graphics chip in my laptop/notebook?
A13: Products based on ATI’s Mobility™ product line, including RAGE Mobility P™, RAGE Mobility M™ and RAGE LT PRO™, are supported by a generic graphics driver included on the Windows® XP release CD.

The basic driver on the Windows® XP CD may not offer some of the custom features provided by the manufacturer of your laptop. Some examples are OpenGL® or custom control panels.

In some cases, the generic driver may not function properly to provide basic graphics support and a specific driver, released by the laptop manufacturer, may be required for any support under this operating system.

Please contact the manufacturer of your laptop/notebook computer to determine whether Windows® XP is supported on your system and to determine which drivers to use.

Due to the number of driver customizations required to support each specific laptop/notebook computer design, ATI is unable to provide laptop/notebook drivers direct to end-users. Please check with your laptop/notebook manufacturer for assistance.
