"From this early look at the card, the Radeon(tm) 8500 is shaping
up to be one heck of a great option for gamers; and it
should breath some new life in to the market, much to the delight of
those who feared it became a one-man show when 3DFX dropped
out of the race and seemed to leave NVIDIA as the only option
for gamers. We can't wait to see what it can do when it's
ready for final release, drivers and finalized and WIN XP and DX 8.1
are available; as right now, all we're seeing is the raw
power, not the features that make promise to make this card not only
a great performer, but a leader in terms of image quality."

"ATI Technologies has now unveiled its competitive response
to the GeForce3, a DirectX 8-ready successor to the popular
Radeon(tm) graphics chip. Formerly referred to by its internal
code name, R200, this new chip will power the Radeon(tm)
8500--the most potent gaming card of ATI's new fall products. For those
looking for the sweet spot between price and performance,
ATI has also debuted a new mainstream product, the Radeon(tm) 7500,
based on a higher-speed version of the original Radeon(tm)
graphics core."

"Radeon(tm) 8500 has all that it takes: Brute force in terms
of core clock, pipelines and memory bandwidth as well
as a huge set of nifty features that sets it apart from any other 3D-chip
in the market."
