ATI TV Wonder™ Digital Cable Tuner Glossary

CableCARD™
A special card that allows you to watch digital cable TV on a Digital Cable Compatible Windows Vista based PC. Your local cable system operator supplies the card, which plugs into the ATI TV Wonder Digital Cable Tuner.

Coaxial cable
Coaxial cable, also known as RF cable, is the cable type that carries the signal of various devices such as TVs and VCRs and is the type of cable that connects to the Cable TV jack on the ATI TV Wonder Digital Cable Tuner.

Digital Cable Tuner
A Digital Cable Tuner is an integrated PC component or USB device that enables you to watch and record, encrypted digital cable channels, as well as other digital cable channels that are not encrypted (sometimes referred to as "ClearQAM"), and over-the-air high definition TV (sometimes referred to as ATSC), and standard TV.

Home Media Server (MCE HMS)
A term defined by CableLabs as a compliant personal computer running Windows Media Center and incorporates features capable of being used with cable television services received via an OpenCable Unidirectional Receiver, such as the ATI TV Wonder Digital Cable Tuner. MCE HMS describes a Windows Media Center computer that meets the CableLabs requirements for a Home Media Server (HMS) that is capable of receiving digital cable content when paired with ATI TV Wonder Digital Cable Tuner.

OCUR
An OpenCable Unidirectional Receiver (OCUR), such as the ATI TV Wonder Digital Cable Tuner, is a TV tuner device that uses a CableCARD™ to get conditional access protected broadcast digital content from a cable television provider, and send it out to a Digital Cable Compatible PC.

Electronic Program Guide (EPG)
An onscreen listing of upcoming programs and information available through media services such as cable television.

QAM
Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (QAM) is the digital cable standard in the United States. Windows Media Center supports QAM signals with ATI TV Wonder Digital Cable Tuner in the United States.
