Exclusive - ATI FireGL™ V8650 Review
5 out of 5 - Editor's Choice
' In the past NVIDIA just about always cleared the board here with the full remit of “Editors Choice” awards for their new Professional Graphic Cards. Now in just a short space of 3 months the AMD FireGL Team have successfully and completely dominated the whole remit. How the times have changed! It’s very difficult to believe this could ever happen, seeing the roles being completely reversed especially at these levels.'

ATI FireGL V7600 512MB Workstation Graphics Card
'The numbers simply don’t lie. Nvidia’s QuadroFX 4500, which once dominated this market and sold for roughly $2,500, is now getting bested by nearly a 2x margin in many benchmarks by this $999 card [ATI FireGL V7600]. This is excellent news for anyone who requires top-notch high-end digital content creation performance, but can’t drop several thousand dollars on an ultra-high-end product.”

ATI FireGL™ V7600 versus Nvidia Quadro FX4600
ATI’s FireGL V7600 Gets Our Editor’s Choice Recommendation
“ As a result of its very good value for the money, ATI's FireGL V7600 gets our editors choice recommendation. The R600 chip with shader model 4.0 brings a performance leap to the workstation arena. Meanwhile, the Nvidia's G80-based chips also have a lot to offer. However, Nvidia should reconsider its pricing strategy - only then will the company become competitive again.”

“ With This, The Gauntlet Has Been Thrown Down…”
“ The performance of the FireGL V5600 has been remarkably astonishing to say the least for a 128 bit controller! [It is]Returning results which are found in the competitions High-End professional cards, in some areas their Ultra High-End Cards! Taking into consideration its price performance point we have to seriously think about this card when buying a new system or upgrading. At a MRSP price point of just £300 UK Pounds or $600 US Dollars…the results shown here today speak volumes by themselves.”

Mirror, Mirror On The Wall – Who’s The Fastest Of Them All!!!!!
“ What is conclusive is that the base line tests from SPECviewperf® 10.0 and Cinebench 10 have returned substantial amounts of indisputable results for the FireGL V7600 which are exceptional for a High End Card at a Mid Range Card price point. The performance of the FireGL V7600 has been remarkably astonishing to say the least. It does put it up squarely with the high end products from the competition and yet, we have to see more with the 2 other new cards waiting patiently in the wings.”

MCAD Magazine
“FireGL V3600 on test….Inventor 2008 threw up some interesting figures, particularly under our large model in DirectX mode where it reached 3.2 frames per second (FPS), one of the fastest scores we’ve ever seen, beating Nvidia’s Quadro FX 1500 by nearly 20%”

“... looking at the SPEC Viewperf 10 scores of the FireGL V3600 (and let’s remember that’s ATI’s entry-level card) it is certainly clear the new technology has great potential”

A New Dawn – It’s a New Day with a New Beginning.
“Over the years we have watching as the FireGL cards grown in maturity. As each new release arrives, one has to sit back in awe in the performance uptake over their predecessors. For an entry level card to utterly out perform a card in the mid range; which has a much higher bandwidth and memory controller interface truly is a remarkable piece of engineering. This time, the FireGL Team has totally surpassed themselves and should be swollen with pride of such a remarkable product presented here... we are not often left here lost for words but somehow the FireGL Team has managed to achieve this. It is with baited breath that we await the next card from the range and see just how much power and performance this will provide.”
