Xilleon™ 240S & Xilleon™ 240H
Highly Integrated TV-on-Chip™ for
ATSC Digital TVs
The Xilleon™ 240S and Xilleon™ 240H (X240S & X240H) are
highly integrated TV-on-Chip™ solutions designed to enable cost effective
digital television sets for the North American and Korean markets. The Xilleon
240 family delivers both industry leading digital signal reception and high
quality image processing display functionality required for a complete DTV
solution.
The X240S & X240H are the first chips to integrate all the major components
necessary for manufacturers to build digital integrated televisions at lower
costs. The Xilleon 240S TV-on-Chip™ includes a Digital Front End capable
of demodulating and decoding 8VSB for ATSC terrestrial broadcasts or 64/256
QAM for digital cable, a HD/SD capable MPEG video and audio decoder, a NTSC
video decoder featuring a 3D comb filter, and a powerful MIPS® CPU (central
processing unit). The X240S supports both digital and analog SD (Standard
Definition) outputs.
The X240H includes all of the features of the X240S and, in addition, integrates
a Forward Data Channel demodulator for OpenCable applications as well as
an advanced image processing engine. The X240H includes advanced deinterlacing
technology that reduces artifacts such as jagged lines and delivers the highest
quality digital image processing. The X240H supports both digital and analog
HD (High Definiton) outputs.
Xilleon 240 samples and reference designs, including AMD’s CARD,
are available. AMD’s CARD (Customer Application Ready Design) is
a highly scalable and complete software stack and reference platform
that enables HDTV manufacturers to produce ATSC or Digital Cable Ready
televisions (for
CableCARD solutions) with minimum investment in time and resources.
