ATI's Radeon® ready for Intel's new AGP chipset

    • ATI and Intel work closely to ensure all ATI graphics chips optimized for the i815e chipset

Toronto, Canada, June 19, 2000 - ATI Technologies Inc. (TSE:ATY; NASDAQ:ATYT) today announced that its complete product line of graphics and video accelerators fully support the newly-announced Intel AGP 4X i815e chipset. Intel's new chipset, which provides the link between the graphics and video accelerator components and the CPU, further extend the advantage of the AGP (Accelerated Graphics Port) bus which allows graphics chips to use the computer's main memory for 3D and video on the PC.

ATI has worked closely with Intel to ensure that its products are optimized for the i815e chipset, including the RAGE 128™ family of chips as well as the just-announced ATI Radeon® graphics accelerator. Radeon is optimized for high end chip sets such as the i815e. Radeon's capabilities are complemented by the i815e's support for AGP 4X, high bandwidth 1.6GB/s system memory and high performance processors.

"ATI's family of AGP 4X graphics controllers, including the new Radeon, complement Intel's new chipsets, and Intel is pleased to have worked closely with ATI to ensure that ATI's graphics work optimally with the Intel 815E chipset," said Tony Sica, director of marketing for Intel's Desktop Products Group.

ATI's extensive range of 4X products, for the high to mid-range of the market, include the ATI Radeon graphics processing unit (GPU) and the RAGE™ 128 Pro graphics accelerator chip, as well as Radeon and RAGE 128 Pro-based graphics boards.

All ATI 4X products are designed for both commercial and consumer applications and through the full benefit of the AGP 4X specification deliver the 3D graphics acceleration required for high end CAD use and PC gaming. ATI has also integrated unsurpassed 2D and video acceleration into its graphics chip products.

"From the outset, ATI has been a chief proponent of the AGP bus," said Dave Orton, President and COO of ATI. "We worked with Intel to establish the first AGP specification in 1996 and have continued this close working relationship up to and including the development of the AGP 4X specification. As a result, ATI can offer the full benefit of graphics chips that are optimized for all AGP 4X systems."
