Press Release
ATI reasserts strength and
commitment to workstation graphics market
ATI broadens distribution of FireGL 8700 and
FireGL 8800 workstation graphics cards
LONDON, 31st May, 2002 - ATI is targeting
an important segment of the workstation market
by broadening the distribution of its ATI-built
and designed FireGL branded graphics cards
to key system integrators and business partners.
A significant portion of workstation systems
are brought to market by system integrators.
Additionally, many components are sold through
dedicated workstation distributors. Targeting
these business partners significantly increases
the available market for FireGL branded graphics
boards.
ATI is working closely with its distribution
partners to ensure fast communication of product
updates such as certifications and price drops.
Another benefit to distributors and customers
is ATI's ability to offer direct support through
a dedicated team of hardware and software
professionals.
Two products are now shipping to distributors.
The FireGL 8700, an entry-level 3D workstation
graphics card featuring 64MB of DDR memory,
and the FireGL 8800, a mid-range 3D workstation
graphics card featuring 128MB of DDR memory
are now shipping to distributors and partners
with suggested retail prices of £299
and £599 ex VAT respectively. Both products
have optimised OpenGL® drivers and DirectX®
support ATI's TruForm and SmartShader
technologies and dual display support including
Hydravision multi-monitor management
software.
"We are very excited about the broadened
exposure that this program will bring to our
FireGL products," said Rick Bergman,
Senior Vice President, Marketing and General
Manager, Desktop, ATI Technologies Inc. "Our
products offer tremendous features and performance
at an excellent price, making this a compelling
offering for our workstation distributors."
ATI will continue to distribute FireGL products
to large OEM (original equipment manufacturers)
customers. ATI's FireGL products are currently
available in Compaq, Dell, HP and IBM systems.
