Press Release
ATI Makes Unprecedented Commitment
To High-Quality, Frequently Updated Drivers
And Software
Catalyst software including unified, Microsoft
WHQL certified driver and ATI's proprietary
applications available for free download at
ATI.com
Markham, Ontario - June 13, 2002 - ATI today
renewed its commitment to providing high-quality,
reliable graphics solutions by introducing Catalyst,
a software suite that includes unified driver
and software applications to enable its Radeon
family of graphics products.
The Catalyst suite consists of four software
elements: ATI's unified driver for Radeon products;
Hydravision, ATI's proprietary desktop
management software; ATI's popular Multimedia Center software and ATI's new Remote Wonder
software.
- The first release of Catalyst introduces:
-
- SmartGart™, ATI's proprietary diagnostic
tool, which will determine and configure
optimal system settings for the most stable
performance. This will make the industry's
most stable 3D acceleration drivers and
software even more reliable;
- A newly designed control panel to
help users easily manage their settings,
helping them finding the right balance
between performance and image-quality;
- Software to drive HDTV's through ATI's
new HDTV Component Video Adapter (available
from ATI.com) to achieve previously unattainable
image quality;
- A new version of ATI's Multimedia Center software which can be used for
SVCD compliant capture;
- Software for ATI's Remote Wonder,
including new pre-defined plug-ins, enabling
users to map the keys on their REMOTE
WONDER to drive their favourite applications
from across the room - or another room
altogether.
Performance will be a key focus of every Catalyst
release. ATI is committed to frequent updates,
getting performance enhancements into the hands
of users quickly instead of waiting for annual,
or semi-annual performance boosts as is sometimes
common in the graphics industry. All drivers
in Catalyst will be WHQL (Windows Hardware Quality
Labs) certified by Microsoft.
"Our track record over the past six months
has shown how dedicated we are to this initiative
- and how effectively we are executing on our
software strategy," said Rick Bergman,
Senior Vice President, Marketing and General
Manager, Desktop, ATI Technologies Inc. "We
are fully committed to maintaining the high
level of stability in our entire software offering.
Catalyst will raise the bar in the industry
in terms of what users expect from their graphics
cards."
ATI's customer service team supports the Catalyst
suite. This will bring additional value to customers
choosing products built by ATI and its graphics
board partners. Customers are encouraged to
use the online feedback process via ATI.com
to send their suggestions for new Catalyst features
and enhancements directly to ATI.
